Washington Lake Park – Find the Best Parks in Sewell

Moving to a new home is a major milestone in anyone’s life. Choosing the right furniture movers can ensure that all your belongings make it safely to your new home. Read on for some ideas.

Washington Lake Park in Sewell NJ has many things to offer visitors, including hiking trails and a lake that offers fishing, boating, and swimming. The park also has picnic areas and a playground.

1. Dog Park

The dog park is fenced with a few different sections presumably for different-sized dogs. This allows dogs to run freely while still keeping them from leaving the fenced area. 42Freeway visited this new addition in March 2021 and it looked great, especially the fact that dogs can play free without their owners!

Empty bottles pile up in corners, marijuana smoke wafts through the air and some kid just lit a piece of trash on fire. While vandalism is a common occurrence at the skate park, township officials have no plans to close it.

The entire 340-acre park is home to many activities, including a paved walking path, a children’s playground, a 9-acre off-leash dog park, and an outdoor amphitheater. It’s easy to see why this is one of the most popular parks in all of South Jersey!

2. Picnic Areas

If you love to picnic, this massive South Jersey park is the perfect place to lay down your blanket. It has tons of picnic groves and pavilions, many with grills (reservations can be made). There are also tennis and sports fields, a skatepark, the Smithville Mansion and Museum, and more.

Cedar Lake, where you can fish (you must catch and release), is another highlight of this huge park. And there are a ton of hiking trails to explore as well.

3. Playground

Kids of all ages will find plenty to do at this popular park. Whether they want to hit a few tennis balls, play a game of sand volleyball or climb to the top of the playground, this is a fun place to spend an afternoon with friends and family.

This large park is home to a beautiful gazebo that can be reserved for special events. It also has a large playground, pond, two multi-use sports fields, and more.

This is one of the best parks in New Jersey for kids with a first-of-its-kind universally integrated playground. Jake’s Place and Challenger Place are designed to be inclusive for children of all abilities with features including cushioned surfaces, wide ramps, and specialized areas. There is also a spray ground to cool off between the two playgrounds. This unique place is a must-see!

4. Boating

Washington Lake Park is a huge park spanning more than 330 acres. Open to the public are basketball courts, tennis courts, and sand volleyball courts, three covered pavilions that are available for rent and a multi-use recreation area that can be reserved, a cedar lake where you can fish (fish must be released after being caught), paved and natural walking trails and restroom facilities.

Hikers will love the many hiking trails in the park, while anglers can enjoy the pond and its fishing opportunities. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including Eastern Phoebes and Great Crested Flycatchers, while woodpeckers, catfish, and bass are found in the lake and its tributaries. There are also a number of picnic areas throughout the park.

5. Fishing

The large lake at Washington Lake Park offers fishing and boating opportunities, as well as playgrounds, picnic areas, and a pavilion. The park also features 9 interconnected nature trails that are perfect for hiking and spending time outdoors.

Those who enjoy sports can use the basketball courts, tennis, and sand volleyball courts at the park. In addition, there are three playgrounds and a recreation area with more sports courts. The park also includes Cedar Lake where you can fish (fish must be released immediately after being caught), paved and natural walking trails, and an amphitheater.
