One of the world’s oldest operating amusement parks, Clementon Park & Splash World was founded in 1907. This traditional park includes a full-scale water park with a 23,000-square-foot wave pool and beach.

For decades it was a beloved recreation destination for the residents of this hamlet across the river from Philadelphia. But now it was being auctioned off piecemeal. Read on to know more.

Amusement Park

Founded in 1907, this traditional park offers 26 rides, including the Hell Cat wooden roller coaster and an antique carousel. It also has a water park, which is included with amusement park admissions, that includes the Laguna Kahuna multi-level interactive water play area and Sky River Rapids family tube ride, as well as Ring of Fire and Thunder Drop 60-foot free-fall slides and a two-lane mat racer slide.

In the summer, families visit to cool off on a hot day in the large 23,000-square-foot wave pool that has rolling waves that you can body surf or ride while floating on tubes. For those who want more excitement, there is the Laguna Kahuna, a five-story Polynesian water playground, and the Torpedo Rush side-by-side 60-foot free-fall slides and four other slides standing 85 feet tall. In addition to the thrill rides, there are many other kid’s rides and attractions. It’s one of the oldest and still operating amusement parks in the country.

Water Park

With 19 thrilling rides and a full-scale water park, this is a great place for kids of all ages to have fun. Some of the rides are family-friendly, while others are meant to give you the thrill of flying through the air or plummeting 110ft.

The theme park was founded in 1907 and is one of the oldest amusement parks in the country. The traditional park has been a favorite getaway for many families and is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, plus the last weekend in October for HalloScreams.

On a bright Friday in March, days before the auction, carnival proprietors, summer camp operators, ice cream shop owners, and eccentric collectors made their way to the park with clipboards and tape measures. They peeked under the turntable of the historic carousel, wind tattered and sagging in spots, then inspected the 23,000-square-foot wave pool. Browse around this site to check more places to visit.

Food & Drinks

Clementon Park & Splash World has delicious food options to compliment their exhilarating and refreshing amusement rides and water slides. The amusement park side has a classic old-fashioned feel to it and offers classic rides such as the Merry-Go-Round, Gondola Ferris Wheel, Tilt-A-Whirl, and Sea Dragon.

During a time when a longtime recreation destination across the river from Philadelphia was auctioned off in pieces, carnival proprietors, summer camp owners, and ice cream shop operators arrived at the pre-auction inspection with clipboards. The place looked like it was about to disappear forever.

The family-friendly theme and water park has more than 20 attractions, including the Laguna Kahuna Polynesian water play area, Ring of Fire 60ft looping coaster, Thunder Drop 100 ft free-fall ride, and 23,000 sq. ft Big Wave Bay. Tubes and mats are available to reduce wait times for some slides and attractions. Generally, restaurants and food locations are busiest around lunchtime and dinnertime.

Clementon Park & Splash World is a popular attraction for families looking to get some fun in the sun. The water park features everything from a Laguna Kahuna multi-level water play area to the Torpedo Rush side-by-side 60ft free fall drop slides and Sky River Rapids family tube rides.

At the start of this year, it seemed the beloved amusement park would be sold off in pieces. Carnival proprietors, summer camp directors, and ice cream shop owners lined up to inspect the park’s skeleton for parts.

But a Chicago broker with a love for the campy and the kitschy swooped in to purchase the entire park at auction. And now the 114-year-old South Jersey attraction looks to rise again. Up next is Diggerland.
